Shepherds of the Ruins – Scottish Highlands Landscape with Sheep

After a long hike across the Trotternish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye, I was ready to
take a break for lunch when I stumbled upon a classic Highland scene. Stone crofting
walls stretched across the land, the sea shimmered at Staffin Bay, and right there in
front of me stood a ewe and her lamb.

I knew these moments don’t last long — sheep are quick to scatter if you move too
suddenly. I steadied myself, careful not to startle them, and raised my camera. For a
moment, the mother looked out across the water, with the lamb close by, and everything
lined up in harmony: the land, the sea, the animals, and the history of the crofting walls.
It felt like Scotland revealing itself in its purest form.
