Golden Watcher – Autumn Red Fox Portrait

Behind my house in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, I spotted something I almost couldn’t believe — a red fox curled up in the grass, sunbathing. Usually, foxes are so skittish that they dart away at the slightest movement, and I was sure he would vanish before I could get close enough.

I moved slowly, holding my breath, and raised my camera as carefully as I could. For a split second, I thought I had lost him — he lifted his head, looked straight into my lens, and I braced myself for him to run. But instead, he stayed, calm and still, just long enough for me to take the shot. It was one of those rare moments when the wild allowed me in.
