Eilean Donan Reflections

When I set out to photograph Eilean Donan Castle during my seven-day hike through
the Scottish Highlands, I knew exactly what I was in for — Scotland’s skies are
unpredictable, shifting by the minute. That’s part of the magic, but it also makes
capturing the right moment a challenge.

As I stood by the water, the clouds rolled quickly across the sky, constantly changing the
light. For a moment, I struggled to keep up, unsure if the castle would shine the way I
had hoped. Then the light broke through in golden streaks, just enough to highlight the
stone walls against the dark backdrop. I lifted my camera at the perfect instant,
capturing the atmosphere I had come to Scotland for.
